Case Study - The Elischer Foundation
The Goal
We were honoured to design both Tony Elischer’s website and later The Elischer Foundation’s website, paying tribute to both Tony and his wife, Nicky, in their memory. The foundations aim is to connect fundraisers with mentors via an application process on the website, upskilling future fundraising leaders.
The Back Story
Tony Elischer was a charismatic, thought leader and a passionate fundraiser and advocate for the not for profit sector all over the globe. We first worked with Tony when we designed and built tonyelischer.com about Tony, his passions and particularly his conference appearances and passionate style.
Tony, along with his wife Nicky, established Thinkcs.org in 2001. After Tony’s passing, Nicky launched the foundation in his memory, inspired by the countless stories of his guidance and support in fundraising careers. Central to the foundation’s mission is the meticulous selection process for pairing mentees with mentors, ensuring that talented individuals in the third sector can continue to thrive and fulfil their potential.
Our Objectives
- To connect experienced fundraising professionals with future leaders in a mentoring programme.
- To explain the application process and facilitate this on the website.
- To build solid SEO foundations that would allow the site to be found by prospective mentees and mentors.
What We Did
- We designed and built the brand new website as a legacy for Tony and Nicky. The site was built using WordPress and keeps some of the vibrant colour Tony was so keen to have on his own website.
- Applicants are guided through the process where their details are captured, stored and emailed to the Foundation on submission.
- An area of the site was specifically designed to attract mentors and explain the benefits of the partnership to them.
- The whole website has been built with solid SEO foundations so as to be easily found by fundraisers looking for help and guidance. This included schema, image compression and meta tags.
The Results
- The website is attractive and has an easy to follow application system using a form that powers the start of the process and allows the Foundation team to see the info they need quickly and easily as it lands in their inbox as requested.
- Search optimisation has allowed people looking for a mentor in the fundraising sector to find The Elischer Foundation quickly and easily.
- The first cohort of mentees finished in 2018 and the programme has successfully rolled out every year since.
