Case Study - Brain Tumour Research
The Goal
Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in people under 40, yet only 1% of national cancer research funding has historically been dedicated to this critical issue. A strong digital marketing strategy is vital for raising awareness and driving funding, and we are deeply honoured to have supported these efforts.
The Back Story
I first met Sue Farrington Smith MBE, the inspiring founder of Brain Tumour Research, at a networking event. Her passion for the cause was contagious, and I was honoured when the opportunity arose to support the charity’s digital journey. Over the years, we’ve worked closely with Brain Tumour Research on a range of impactful projects from advising on website design to creating compelling content and implementing SEO strategies. It’s been a privilege to contribute to their mission to find a cure for all types of brain tumours.

Our Objectives
- To help with the core deliveries of the website which are to provide important information around all aspects of brain tumours, support fundraising and collect donations.
- Provide information and training around how to improve search engine ranking results. This has included technical advice and implementation plus training on Google’s EEAT requirements.
What We Did
- From advising on website design to crafting compelling content and implementing SEO strategies, we’ve been at the forefront of Brain Tumour Research’s digital journey.
- One of our initial triumphs was creating a blog platform and providing comprehensive training on its backend functionality. More recently, we conducted an in-depth SEO review, resulting in a multitude of strategic enhancements. This included fine-tuning website performance, optimizing meta tags, fortifying internal linking structures, image compression, seamless 404 redirects, and conducting meticulous keyword research to gain a competitive edge in the charitable sector.
- Furthermore, we are committed to elevating Brain Tumour Research’s digital presence to meet the rigorous standards set by Google’s EEAT guidelines in the near future. This involves not only aligning with current best practices but also anticipating and adapting to future trends. Our focus remains on cultivating a robust content strategy, fostering relevant and authoritative backlinks, and ensuring every digital aspect resonates with industry-leading standards, reinforcing Brain Tumour Research’s pivotal role in combating this devastating disease.
The Results
- Regular contact with us has allowed Brain Tumour Research to stay up to date with the latest digital trends, especially where SEO has been involved. This has helped inform wider strategy.
- Keyword research identified upwards of 10,000 search terms that are relevant to the charity. These have been prioritised and targeted, especially where other charities are performing better.
- Quick wins such as internal linking provided a boost to several search terms in the rankings.
- Adopting EEAT standards is a work in progress but with templates ready to go this will provide a step change to performance.
