Case Study - Weighteddecision.com
The Goal
Ever faced a tough decision and wished for a little extra help? That’s where the Weighted Decision Matrix comes in! We were tasked with designing and building a website to showcase this clever tool, complete with a calculator and downloadable matrices in a user-friendly store. To top it off, we optimised the site for search engines and set up Google Ads to boost traffic and revenue, making decision-making easier for everyone.
The Back Story
Weighteddecision.com is a website born from one person’s desire to bring the weighted decision matrix to the masses. If you’ve never used or even heard of one, it’s a simple calculator that helps someone choose between various different options and make a decision. This is done using a matrix where scores are entered, the factors weighted and a winner declared. You can have a go yourself using the online weighted decision calculator we developed.
Our Objectives
- Build a website to celebrate and explain all things related to the weighted decision matrix including an online calculator and loads of examples.
- Apply best practice to content writing and keep blogs up to Google’s writing EEAT standards.
- Write creative articles that showcase real-life examples of how a matrix can be applied e.g. how to choose between different cars when looking to buy.
- Target various keywords and achieve page one rankings on Google.
- Schedule social media posts to highlight how the matrix helps with decision making.
What We Did
- WordPress was the ideal platform to use for this site (which had a limited budget) as we were able to use a template and quickly set things up.
- We wrote the code to allow a weighted decision matrix calculator work online.
- We thought of lots of everyday scenarios where people are faced with a decision and wrote blogs to illustrate how the matrix could be used to help in the decision making process. With a completed matrix, obviously!
- We optimised the site to target keywords such as “weighted decision matrix calculator” in order to achieve page one rankings on Google.
- Each piece of content was written with real-world experience in mind in order to surpass Google’s EEAT requirements.
- We scheduled problem-solving social media posts which promoted the tool and showed its value to the world.
The Results
The Weighted Decision website is the most comprehensive website on this topic on the internet. It has ranked on Google page one for multiple search terms and provides an accessible, easy to use online calculator. It’s been monetised with adverts and an online shop where an excel spreadsheet version of the decision matrix can be bought in different sizes.
